Why don't we ask about sit bone spacing?
Other saddle manufacturers require measuring your sit bone spacing exactly before you can choose a saddle. We say phooey to that.
After decades of matching saddles to riders, we've learned that your riding position and gender have more to do with finding the right saddle for you than your sit bone spacing.
Your sit bones do indeed support the bulk of your weight, but unless you are in a completely upright riding position, it’s likely that your pelvis is tilted forward with your weight being shifted from your sit bones to other areas of your pubic arch.
If you are a road bike rider, for example, it’s likely that more of your weight is on the mid and front areas of the saddle, making those areas super critical in terms of width and pressure relief. If you are a mountain biker, you will likely want a saddle that has a narrower rear so you can push off the back without catching your shorts or upper thighs.
All Terry saddles are designed with the following in mind:
- Wide rear with enough bearing surface for both sit bones; flat rear that won’t cause pressure between sit bones
- Narrowing as much as possible through the mid section to avoid chafing
- Contoured shaping of foam in areas that come in contact with soft tissues

How important is my choice of chamois?
Most riders will enjoy the ride more with a good chamois in their cycling bottoms, but especially for women around middle age and beyond, choosing the right chamois is almost as important as finding the right saddle. The amount of cushioning, air and moisture transport you find in our high end chamois choices all become especially important.
Here's more info about the chamois we offer. Don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Service team for help!

How important is correct bike fit to saddle comfort?
More important than many cyclists realize!
We often talk to riders who have endured saddle pain and blamed the saddle, without knowing that getting their bike properly fitted can take care of many pain issues. Here's more info about how bike fit can affect saddle pain..

Will a men's saddle work for a woman, or a women's for a man?
Quite often, yes! We find that most women need a wider saddle with a bit more strategic padding, and most guys need a bit narrower seat. But we are all built a little differently, and in some cases our female customers find a slightly narrower saddle is best for them. Same for some guys, who find more comfort with a wider rear platform.
That's one reason we have developed several saddle models that fall in between the "normal" widths of women's and men's saddles, and work really well for some people. You can see these models by checking both checkboxes in the gender section.

What if I order a recommended saddle but it doesn't work well for me?
We've got your back! You can try any saddle for 30 days, and if it doesn't suit you as well as it should you can return or exchange it. Our saddle recommendations work really well most of the time, but saddle preference is a very personal thing, and sometimes it takes a couple of trials to find the perfect match.
